Photo Story: Custom-Built QDX Cranes for a Thai Port Machinery Manufacturer
At Dongqi Crane, we understand that heavy equipment manufacturing is about more than just steel and welding—it’s about precision, protection, and partnership. As a Sino-New Zealand joint venture with a 240,000-square-meter manufacturing campus in Changyuan, China, we have spent years honing our ability to serve global clients, from Southeast Asia to the Middle East and Eastern Europe .
Today, we are proud to look back at a successful project completed in 2020 for a professional client in Thailand: a port machinery maintenance and crane manufacturing factory. For this order, we manufactured four units of QDX-type double girder overhead cranes. The specifications for this project were unique: 5-ton capacity, 24-meter span, and 10-meter lifting height, operating on a 415V, 50Hz, 3-phase power supply .
Notably, in this specific order, the client utilized their local expertise to produce the main girders themselves. Our responsibility focused on delivering the high-precision components: the end carriages, hoists, and trolleys. The following photos document our production progress, showcasing the quality and care that went into every detail before shipment to Thailand.

1. High-Strength End Carriage Detailing

This image captures one of the core structural elements of the crane: the end carriage. Built to a 24-meter span configuration, these end carriages are designed to ensure stable travel along the runway rails. Our production team focused on achieving precise wheel alignment to guarantee smooth operation for the client in Thailand. The robust box-section design reflects the European-style technology that Dongqi has integrated into its manufacturing processes to reduce dead weight while maintaining high strength .
2. Secure Packaging for End Carriages

Logistics are just as important as fabrication. Here, you can see our team taking proactive measures to protect the components during their long journey to Thailand. The end carriages are wrapped in heavy-duty waterproof tarpaulin and secured with strapping. This level of detail ensures that even if the equipment faces humid marine conditions or unexpected rain during transit, it arrives at the Thai factory in pristine condition, ready for integration with their locally fabricated main girders.
3. Hoist Trolley Assembly Details

This photo focuses on the lifting mechanism—the heart of the 5-ton crane. The image showcases the compact design of the European-standard electric hoist. We paid special attention to the 415V 50Hz 3P electrical components to match Thailand’s industrial power standards. By manufacturing the hoists and trolleys in-house, we were able to guarantee that these critical components would offer precise load control and reliable performance for our client”s maintenance and manufacturing operations .
4. Export-Ready Wooden Crating

To ensure the safety of the intricate hoist mechanisms, we utilized custom plywood crates for export. This image illustrates the final stage of our production process: packaging. The trolley is braced internally to prevent shifting during container transit. This “crate-proofing” standard is part of our commitment to “Service First,” ensuring that our equipment arrives looking exactly as it did when it left our factory floor .
Delivering Solutions, Building Trust
This project for our Thai partner is a perfect example of how Dongqi Crane operates with flexibility. Whether we are providing a complete turnkey solution or supporting a client with specific sub-assemblies like end carriages and hoists, our goal remains the same: precision, safety, and reliability.
With over 500 technicians and advanced fabrication facilities, we are equipped to handle custom non-standard requests, just as we did with this QDX order in 2020 . If you are looking for a lifting partner who respects your local manufacturing capabilities while providing world-class components, Dongqi Crane is here to lift you up.
